Recent additions to the Independent Artists page, Resounding Maybes, are a Shoegaze/Dream Pop/Indie Pop trio that offer up Shoegaze style rock with Pop sensibilities. The core Shoegaze elements from bands like Ride and Slowdive are there - the jangly reverb-laden guitars, the mellow vocal harmonies -  but the Resounding Maybes do this with their own style. The guitars have that washed out feeling, but are less driven than your typical Shoegaze track and retain more of a chorused sheen. The keyboards and vocals are more pronounced and at the forefront of the mix rather than sat in the background covered in reverb, giving that sort of detached feeling.

Don't get me wrong, I, as well as many others, love this type of production from Shoegaze bands, but the Resounding Maybes twist on the genre merges in a Pop flavor that's not easily found otherwise. In fact, they site the Jesus and Mary Chain as one of their influences, and I really see that here in their choice of vocal melody, which paired with the other style elements I mentioned solidifies that Pop/Dream Pop style that they mix in with Shoegaze.

The Resounding Maybes are Patrick O'Connor (guitar & vocals), Savannah O'Connor (keyboard & vocals), and Ed Cho (guitar). Their newest album 'Murder Mittens' was released in July of 2023 and is a great listen. You can find that linked below as well as the video for their single 'Catch and Release'. Also, take the time to give their other releases a listen and consider purchasing physical copies to support the band.
