Artist Bio
Ian Hook (2005) is an American Composer and Student from Peru, Indiana. He has had various works commissioned since starting his brand in 2022, such as Solo Organ, Organ & Trumpet, Organ & Harp, and Concert Band. His first original work was debuted in July 2022 by the Worcester Chamber Music Society String Quartet at Boston Conservatory’s High School Composition Intensive when Ian was only 16 years old.
Ian’s performance experience includes 7 years of various performance ensembles such as Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Indoor Winds, Winter Percussion, Advanced Choir, Chamber Brass Ensembles, Trumpet Solos, Vocal Solos, and Barbershop Ensembles.
Ian’s compositional journey started in 2020 when he began taking a Music Theory & Composition class under Lauren Dubois in his Sophomore Year at Lewis Cass High School. Now, he takes private lessons from Kameron Mechling, who completed his Master's Degree at Butler University, and previously has taken lessons from Dr. Caroline Kyunga Ahn.
In 2022, Ian received a scholarship from the Cass County Community Foundation which allowed him to attend 2 of Berklee College of Music's esteemed Summer Programs; these being the Brass Workshop and High School Composition Intensive.
